CPU - CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT

The central processing unit (CPU) is the component in a digital computer that interprets instructions and processes data contained in computer programs.

The tower is simply the computer case in which the CPU is housed.

MONITORS

A computer display or computer monitor is an output device that is part of a computer's display system. A cable connects the monitor to a video adapter (video card) that is installed in the computer’s motherboard. This system converts signals into text and pictures and displays them on a TV-like screen (the monitor).

We have two different kinds of monitors in our schools:

The CRT, or cathode ray tube, is the picture tube of your monitor. 

A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a type of flat panel display.

PRINTERS
A computer printer, or more commonly just a printer, is a device that produces a hard copy (permanent human-readable text and/or graphics) of documents on paper.

Laser Printer
A laser printer is a common type of computer printer that rapidly produces high quality text and graphics on plain paper.  This printer is used in the labs and office for high volume black and white documents.

Inkjet/Deskjet Printers
Inkjet/Deskjet printers are types of computer printers that operate by propelling tiny droplets of liquid ink onto paper.  These types of printers are used in our computer labs to produce high volume color documents.

KEYBOARD
A computer keyboard is a computer hardware modeled after the typewriter keyboard. Keyboards are designed for the input of text and characters and also to control the operation of a computer.

MOUSE
In computing, a mouse consists of a hand-held pointing device, designed to sit under one hand of the user. In addition, it usually features buttons and/or other devices, such as "wheels," which allow the user to perform various system-dependent operations. An optical mouse uses a light-emitting diode and photodiodes to detect movement relative to the underlying surface, rather than moving some of its parts as in a mechanical mouse.
SPEAKERS
Computer speakers, or multimedia speakers, are external speakers and are usually equipped with a male-end stereo jack plug (usually color-coded green) for computer sound cards.  Computer speakers are usually a simplified stereo system without a radio or other media sources built in.
HEADPHONES
Headphones are an electronic device that receives an electrical signal.  Our computer labs are equipped with headphones for each computer.
PROMETHEAN BOARD
The Promethean Board is the world's most durable interactive whiteboard and comes with the revolutionary software program for teaching, Activstudio.  The software enables teachers to easily create electronic flipcharts which incorporate text, images, video clips, sound and web page content. Flipcharts can seamlessly hyperlink to any other kind of document that teachers may use in their lessons.
SCANNER
In computing, a scanner is a device that analyzes an image (such as a photograph, printed text, or handwriting) and converts it to a digital image.
LCD PROJECTOR
An LCD projector is a device used for displaying video images or data. It is the modern equivalent to the slide projector and overhead projector used in the past.
