attendance laws):

- Trips not approved in advance
- Shopping, Hunting, Fishing, Attendance at games
- Birthday or other celebrations
- Gainful employment

Unlawful or Illegal Absence

All unexcused absences are unlawful or illegal absences.  The student's parents will receive a legal notice from the school of such absence.  A fine may be imposed for any day over three days of illegal absences.

Notes from Home

Upon returning to school from an absence, a child is required to give the homeroom teacher a written note from the parent or guardian stating the reason for the absence.

Legal Excuse

A legal excuse is your protection when your child is absent.  Keep your child home when he/she has:

1.  Fever (Oral Temperature of 99 degrees or above)
2.  Earache or severe headache
3.  Swollen glands of neck and throat
4.  An acute cold (sneezing and coughing)
5.  Skin rashes or sores
6.  Nausea and vomiting
7.  General signs of illness
8.  Communicable diseases

If your child should become ill in school, it is the family's responsibility to provide transportation home.

Home Instruction for Prolonged Absence

This service provides tutorial service instruction for children who are physically unable to attend school for an extended period of time.  Contact the Building Principal.  If you are unable to attend school but are able to study at home, call the guidance office and assignments will be sent to you.

Make-Up Work

Students who are absent for any reason will be required to make up work  missed in each class.  This work should take approximately the same time as the time missed from class.  Only in extreme cases of prolonged absence will more than one week be allowed for work to be made up unless permission is granted by the school office.

All make-up work must be in by the end of the grading period.  A day's absence does not excuse a student from responsibility for all assignments on the day of his/her return.  Grades will be withheld in case make-up work is not turned in.  Failure will result if the situation is not remedied immediately.

It is the student's responsibility to obtain all make-up work from his/her teachers immediately upon return to school.  Failure to obtain make-up work is no excuse for not doing work missed.
