All About George Washington Elementary
Built in 1928, George Washington School was first opened as a secondary school in McKeesport Area School District.  It later became an elementary school. Renovations and an addition were made in 1989 and 1999.  In 1999, the school became a primary building serving Kindergarten through Third Grade. There are six classes of grades one through three and five Kindergarten classes at George Washington School.

The total enrollment of George Washington School is 492.  The students are serviced by 66 professional and support staff members.  The school provides a wide range of services including a full-time guidance counselor, librarian, nurse, time-out monitor, speech therapist, language specialist, special education program, Title I Math and Reading specialists, and a daily breakfast and lunch program. Our mission at George Washington School is to provide quality educational experiences for our students and to help each of our students strive for educational and personal success.  Collaborative efforts involving staff, students, parents, and community are means to fulfill this mission.  We are a "Success for All" School. The staff regards school pride as an essential element of student success at George Washington School.  School Pride encompasses such things as respect for yourself, others, plus school buildings and grounds.  We hope to continue to help youngsters develop an appreciation of others, themselves, and the school.

FROM DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH:
Take Parkway East to Forest Hills Exit - Route 30. Route 30 to Route 48, make a right onto Route 48 (King's Restaurant). At the second stop light turn right onto Lincoln Way. Follow Lincoln Way through White Oak, at Strifflers' Funeral Home make a left onto O'Neil Boulevard. O'Neil Boulevard turns into Versailles Avenue. At the first stop sign turn left onto Sumac Street and continue on Sumac for several blocks until you come to George Washington School o the right side of the street. The parking lot is in the back of the building.
FROM THE TURNPIKE COMING WEST:
Take Exit 7:Irwin, follow signs for Pittsburgh. Stay on Route 30 until the last light at Norwin Towne Center. Make a left onto Lincoln Way. Follow Lincoln Way through White Oak, at Strifflers' Funeral Home make a left onto O'Neil Boulevard. O'Neil Boulevard turns into Versailles Avenue. At the first stop sign turn left onto Sumac Street and continue on Sumac for several blocks until you come to George Washington School o the right side of the street.
