Keystone Achievement Awards |
|
Four McKeesport Area School
District schools were recognized by The Pennsylvania
Department of Education (PDE) with the Keystone Achievement Award.
This is awarded to schools that have met their Adequate Yearly Progress
(AYP) improvement targets for two consecutive years. The four
schools recognized were Centennial Elementary, Francis McClure
Intermediate, George Washington Elementary, and White Oak Elementary.
The PDE and the PA Association of Federal Program Coordinators (PAFPC)
have partnered to create the Keystone Achievement Award as a public
recognition of the fine work and commitment of Pennsylvania educators
and students for sustained improvement in teaching and learning, and
achievement for all students. This Keystone Achievement Award
recognizes the school's achievement of AYP for the school years 2003 -
2004
and 2004 - 2005.
The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment, also known as PSSA,
measures how well students have achieved in reading and mathematics
according to Pennsylvania's world-class academic standards. The
PSSA results allow schools and districts to evaluate their students'
progress to make full proficiency a reality.
