WEAPONS POLICY
On December 13, 1995, the McKeesport Area School District School Board revised the discipline policy to include the new State Mandated Weapons Law for Schools.

WEAPONS ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:

Weapons shall include, but not limited to, any knife, cutting instrument, cutting tool, nunchahako (nunchuck stick), brass or metal knuckles, firearm, shotgun, rifle, chemical agent such as mace, explosive device including but not limited to pipe bombs, any object which is a weapon "look-alike" or is otherwise purported to be such a weapon, and any other tool, instrument or implement capable of inflicting serious bodily injury.  The provision of this policy shall not apply to a weapon being used as part of a program approved by the School District by an individual who is participating in the program (i.e., a lawful supervised school activity, extra-curricular activity, or course of instruction).

Students are prohibited from having a weapon and or "look-alike" in their possession:

1.  In any McKeesport Area School District Building.
2.  On any grounds of the McKeesport Area School District.
3.  In any conveyance (including private) providing transportation
to or from McKeesport Area School District.
4.  At any school function, activity or event whether or not held
on McKeesport Area School District grounds.
5.  While the student is on his/her way to or from school.

A student in possession of a weapon or "look-alike" shall be subject to an expulsion of not less than one (1) year provided by State Law, Act 26, 1995.

Further detailed information can be found in the principal's office in each building.  These details are part of the McKeesport Area School District Policy Manual, Section #218, Student Discipline Policy.
