WEAPONS ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
Weapons shall include, but not limited to,
any knife, cutting instrument, cutting tool, nunchahako (nunchuck
stick), brass or metal knuckles, firearm, shotgun, rifle, chemical agent
such as mace, explosive device including but not limited to pipe bombs,
any object which is a weapon "look-alike" or is otherwise
purported to be such a weapon, and any other tool, instrument or implement
capable of inflicting serious bodily injury. The provision of this
policy shall not apply to a weapon being used as part of a program
approved by the School District by an individual who is participating in
the program (i.e., a lawful supervised school activity, extra-curricular
activity, or course of instruction).
Students are prohibited from having a weapon and or
"look-alike" in their possession:
1. In any McKeesport Area School District Building.
2. On any grounds of the McKeesport Area School District.
3. In any conveyance (including private) providing transportation
to or from McKeesport Area School District.
4. At any school function, activity or event whether or not held
on McKeesport Area School District grounds.
5. While the student is on his/her way to or from school.
A student in possession of a weapon or "look-alike" shall be
subject to an expulsion of not less than one (1) year provided by State
Law, Act 26, 1995.
